Insomniac Games has added a new Performance mode option in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which will now allow 60 FPS gameplay with ray tracing enabled.

Previously, the game only came with 2 graphics options on PS5- one targeting 4K 30 FPS with ray tracing, and one running at 60 FPS without RT using dynamic resolution scaling. The new update (v1.007) aims to combine the best of both worlds, and is a first of its kind on the new consoles.

Insomniac Games hasn’t shared this news publicly yet, but we expect it to be celebrated anyway. We’re not quite sure what settings were changed in what magnitude in order to get ray tracing working in Miles Morales at a lower resolution.

The visuals toggle for the new setting does give us some clues as to what features were worked on:

“This is an alternate version of the 60 frames per second ‘Performance’ mode, adding ray tracing by adjusting the scene resolution, reflection quality and pedestrian density.”

We’ll update this post with official footage of the game in action with the new mode enabled once Insomniac Games chooses to share the same on their official channels.
