The developer behind the VR adaptation of Rockstar’s crticially acclaimed crime investigator L.A. Noire from 2011 is working on a new AAA VR title for Rockstar. This has been revealed thanks to a new job listing by Video Games Deluxe that has now come to light.

“Having finished the critically well received L.A.Noire: The V.R. Case Files we are now gearing up for a new project, a AAA open world title in VR for Rockstar. 2020 marks our 7th year of working exclusively for Rockstar in Sydney and we are excited to taking on this ground breaking project.”

It mentions that the game in works is a ‘AAA Open World’ title. Rockstar recently announced an ‘Enhanced and Expanded’ edition for GTA V coming to PS5, leading to speculations about a VR version for GTA V. Some speculate it to be Red Dead Redemption 2, although that seems very unlikely considering how most people still find it hard to run the game at 60 FPS, thanks to its breathtaking eyecandy visuals. But it could possibly even be a totally new IP, a brand new AAA open world VR title from Rockstar, for all we know.

The announcement promotes the opening of several different job vacancies, including senior programmers, engine programmer, designer, and animator, all at the company’s Sydney studio. Each one refers to an “open world AAA VR project”, although the details in the listings do not give away any further details.

All we can do right now is wait, either for an announcement, or something like the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gameplay leak from today.
