Making huge buzz on the internet today is the news that the American rapper Kanye West, a comrade of the US President Donald Trump (Ugh!), announced on Saturday that he would run for president in 2020 in an apparent challenge to Trump and his presumptive Democratic rival, former Vice President Joe Biden.
Adlai Stevenson once said “In America, anybody can be president. That’s one of the risks you take” and honestly, 2020 could not have been crazier. A pandemic, Kanye as a presidential candidate, and what more? To make the matter fierier, Elon Musk tweeted saying “You have my full support!”
While the whole idea of Kanye running for the President or Kim Kardashian being the first lady (Just think about it!) or the Kardashian-Jenner clan holding more indirect power on the fraternity seem pretty weird and random. Hilarious memes have been making rounds on the internet dissenting from the idea.
Opinion Time:
The idea of Kanye West running for president is as absurd as it can get. Seen as a strong supporter of Trump, voting for Kanye would be equivalent to voting for Trump. This one step would lead to failure of all efforts and protests in the USA for equality and justice, a major example being the recent Black Lives Matter moment.
Trump and Kanye West are some of those people who gain attention not for their good deeds but more for their aberrant and irrational behaviour. We have no idea what Kanye thought before deciding that he can be the face of the USA or the representative of his people but it definitely is an overconfident decision!
Well, all in all. All the best, Kanye West and America, just do the right thing. You have Biden as a choice too!
