Intel’s DG2 Graphics Card Specs and Photos Leaked, Execs Say It’s “Right around the corner”

Intel’s Game Developer Relations Engineer, Pete Brubaker turned to Twitter to advertise the chip-makers intention of hiring a Senior Game Developer Relations Engineer. These latest developments are conducive to Intel’s imminent launch of its latest GPU — which would enable moderate to heavy gaming solely on Intel chips. “DG2 is right around the corner,” Pete said in his tweet.

[Update: In a new development, the board diagram of the DG2 GPU has also been leaked by Igor’s Lab.]

Moore’s Law is Dead, a YouTuber, also shared images of the Xe-HPG (DG2) of an early-stage engineering sample. The DG2 is expected to have clock speeds of up to 2.2 GHz, with 16GB GDDR6 memory and a 256-bit bus. The images that were shared also shows that the card is equipped with 512 EUs, making it the top-spec GPU in the lineup.

It is said that 512 EUs will generate performances between the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 cards. However, the YouTuber said, “the top-spec Xe should be treated like a RTX 3070Ti, that is where the majority of samples are performing.” Xe is also expected to have a TDP of 275 W, an upscale from the initial range of 225 to 250W.

It is also noteworthy that XSS is the internal codename of its DLSS competitor, which is still under development. However, Moore’s Law is Dead said that while Intel is working on some “very impressive software” for the Xe HPG, but “stability remains a problem.”

Moore’s Law is Dead adds that the release of Xe HPG is “highly unlikely” before the fourth quarter of this year. The prosumer and professional version will not be available before 2022, however.

Intel has been seeing quite a lot of its upcoming products leak out, with Tiger Lake-H as well as specs of its highly anticipated Alder Lake CPUs. We’ll keep you updated regarding more DG2 info as Intel officially reveals it.
