The next-gen version of GTA 5, first announced at the PS5 reveal showcase, will be arriving on both new PlayStation and Xbox consoles on November 11th, 2021.
Rockstar has now shared the first details regarding GTA V’s next-gen version, which will make it the first game from the PS3/Xbox 360 era and fully update it for the new consoles. While we don’t know the exact details about the game’s next-gen version, Rockstar Games did tease earlier that it will take advantage of the new hardware.
“The new generation versions of GTA V will feature a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever.”– Rockstar Games.
As promised earlier, Rockstar Games also revealed that GTA 5 owners on PS4 will be getting exclusive benefits during GTA Online’s summer updates this year. This potentially includes some content from GTA III as well, as 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the classic game (time flies!). The new standalone version of GTA Online will be available for free for PS5 owners in the first 3 months from the GTA V PS5 version release.
PS Plus members on PS4 can claim $1,000,000 in GTA cash at the start of every month leading up to GTA Online’s PS5 release. With the vastly increased power of the PS5, GTA V is bound to look better than ever. We don’t know if the game will include ray tracing support, but having seen a photorealistic version of the game, it might even fail to surprise gamers with high expectations!
Curiously enough, Rockstar Games has not shared any details about a next-gen update for its last game, Red Dead Redemption 2. While that game’s PC port is still quite heavy on modern GPUs, the game on the new consoles still runs in backwards compatibility mode. Although, if recent leaks are anything to go by, RDR2 might release on PS5 before GTA V.
The next-gen version of GTA V will release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 11th, 2021.
