Netflix’s upcoming fantasy series The Witcher is shaping up to be one of it’s most ambitious projects ever. Now, almost after a year when the series was announced, the star of the series has been announced. And it’s none other than…Superman? Ok, well not Superman, but the actor who plays him. Henry Cavill has officially joined the cast of The Witcher. The actor will soon be seen playing the White Wolf, Geralt of Rivia!
Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich took to Twitter to announce the casting news. Describing Cavill as extremely passionate about the role, she welcomed the British actor into the growing family of The Wicher.
The Witcher is a Polish fantasy series based around the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer (a “Witcher”). The series has had 8 books as well as 3 games, with the latter taking place after the books. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was the series’ last entry, and it was regarded as one of the best RPG games ever made.
Fans have quickly started to voice their excitement and their concerns regarding this surprise announcement. Cavill has certainly proved his worth on screen, with strong roles like Clark Kent/Superman in the DC films and recently, in Mission: Impossible- Fallout. The actor has also expressed his interest in the Witcher franchise before, stating many times how he’s played the games through and through and is also a fan of the books. Cavill shared the following to show his excitement regarding the project.
