XFX AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT THICC II is here

XFX is one of the AMD Radeon-exclusive AIBs, similar to Sapphire, Powercolor, HIS, etc., and they have officially released their custom RX 5700 XT version. They call it the THICC II for obvious reasons as it packs a massive 2.7 slot cooler design.

Spec-wise, it is the same as the reference model with no extra speed bump which could explain why XFX has stuck with the 1x8pin + 1x6pin power delivery of the reference model.

It could even mean that XFX may be re-using AMD’s own reference PCB with only the heatsink, cooler and backplate being added. This isn’t really something to worry about as AMD’s reference board design is perfectly alright and it’s only the blower cooler that lets it down.

The theory could be wrong, though, as the listed dimensions of the THICC II shows that it is slightly bigger than the reference version.

XFX AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT specifications:

  • 2560 Stream Processors
  • Base Clock 1605MHz
  • Game Clock 1755MHz
  • Boost Clock 1905MHz
  • Memory 8GB 14Gbps GDDR6
  • Bandwidth 448GB/s
  • 4x 6mm Composite Heatpipes
  • XFX Double Dissipation Cooler design
  • Max supported resolution up to 8k 60Hz
  • 3x Display Port 1.4 HDR
  • 1x HDMI 2.0b
  • 3-year warranty

As like other AIB versions of the 5700 XT, we don’t expect much gain at all in terms of performance but acoustics and temperature-wise there should be a massive difference.

The card is scheduled to be released in August so it shouldn’t be long before we start finding them on shelves.
