The official unveiling of next-in-line Qualcomm flagship mobile SoC, dubbed Snapdragon 875, is almost a month away. It has appeared in quite a benchmarking platform giving us an idea about its performance but it has avoided the AnTuTu till now. Well, now a Qualcomm chipset code-named “Lahaina” which alleged to be the upcoming Snapdragon 875 has surfaced on AnTuTu.
The “Lahaina” manages to score 847,868 which is around 25% over the Snapdragon 865+, Qualcomm’s current flagship chipset, found in Asus ROG Phone 3 which gets a score of 629,245. Currently, the AnTuTu scoreboard is being led by the vanilla Snapdragon 865 powered iQOO 5 Pro which scores the highest 663,752.
Snapdragon 875 outperforms Apple’s A14 Bionic
The alleged Qualcomm chipset manages to outperform Apple’s A14 Bionic SoC with quite a margin. The current-get iPad Air powered by A14 Bionic manages to score 660,038 while on the iPhone 12 Pro it gets a score of 572,133. These scores are pretty much on par with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 and the plus variant but it loses against the alleged Snapdragon 875 by a huge margin.
Other benchmarking platforms have told a different story where Samsung’s Exynos 1080 and Huawei’s Kirin 9900 were leading the game leaving Snapdragon 875 behind. Meanwhile, AnTuTu scores contradict the earlier leaks by placing Snapdragon 875 at the top while Exynos 1080 and Kirin 9900 being runner-ups with scores of 696,000 and 693,000.
Snapdragon 875 is not anywhere near so the chip must be tested on an experimental smartphone with a not so stable firmware. So, it’ll be interesting to see where the numbers will go when it gets inside a retail unit.
A report from AnTuTu suggests that Oppo is working on a smartphone powered by an overclocked Snapdragon 865+. The prime core in the vanilla Snapdragon 865+ is being clocked at 3.09 GHz while the prime core of Snapdragon 865+ found in this Oppo smartphone will be clocked at 3.2Ghz.
The Exynos 1080 is currently expected to be exclusive to China, debuting on an upcoming Vivo smartphone with a 120Hz display. Meanwhile, Samsung is also working on Exynos 2100 which is expected to even outperform Snapdragon 875.
