Apple introduced its iPhone 12 lineup earlier this week consisting of four smartphones — iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and the superior of all iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are going on preorders on October 16, and before even the pre-orders start, AnTuTu scores of both of these smartphones have appeared online, giving us an idea of their capabilities.

Both iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are powered by Apple’s latest A14 Bionic, the first chip to be built on the 5nm process. Apple claims that A14 Bionic is even faster than the A13 Bionic, but AnTuTu scores suggest differently.

iPhone 12 with the 4GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage running on iOS 14.1 scores  564899 in the AnTuTu benchmark test. While it manages to score 167437 and 196812 in the CPU and GPU test, 114462 in the MEM test, and 93422 in the UX test. Whereas the iPhone 12 Pro has 6GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage scored 572133 in the AnTuTu test, 167437 in the CPU test, 196812 in the GPU test, 114462 in the MEM test, and 93422 in the UX test.

    Apple’s A14 Bionic loses to last year’s Snapdragon 865

Comparing the scores with its Android counterparts. The Snapdragon 865+ powered ROG Phone 3 sits at the top with a score of 642671 whereas the ‘Pro’ iPhone is stuck at 572133. Even the other Android flagships powered by the vanilla Snapdragon 865 has scored way above both of the iPhone 12’s. For instance Xiaomi’s Mi 10 Ultra has a total score of 640296 which, again, is better than the latest iPhones.

Even if we compare it with the previous generation iPhone scores, then A14 Bionic gets barely ahead of last year’s A13 Bionic. As the top of the line iPhone of the last year, the iPhone 11 Pro Max 518980, which means A14 Bionic is just 5-6% faster than its predecessor.

AnTuTu listing also confirms that the iPhone 12 will have 4GB of RAM and we expect similarly with the smaller iPhone Mini. While the ‘Pro’ iPhone 12 shows up with the 6GB RAM confirming the rumours of iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max shipping with 6GB of RAM.

The $799, iPhone 12, and $999, iPhone 12 Pro will be up for preorders starting October 16 all around the world while the sale is expected to start from October 22.
