Ubisoft has officially announced Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, which will come out on 21st January 2021 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC.

“The Prince is back! Remade for the first time by Ubisoft, relive this legendary tale, or discover it new for the first time. Embark on a journey as the Prince to save your kingdom from the treacherous Vizier, in this timeless classic.”

The remake was heavily rumored leading up to its reveal, and its artwork even leaked earlier today from the Uplay Russia store.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was a landmark title that quickly spawned 2 sequels and even a reboot. Fans have been asking for a Prince of Persia project for far too long, and while this isn’t a new entry in the franchise, it will certainly satisfy older fans.

    [UPDATE: Added Gameplay Overview trailer]

The Sands of Time Remake will sport updated graphics while retelling the same story of the Prince and Farah that we all fell in love with back in 2003. It will also include “new camera angles and fully remade sequences”.

“Relive the Prince’s journey for redemption after unwittingly releasing the Sands of Time on the Sultan’s Kingdom. As with the original, players will embody the heroic Prince alongside the daughter of the Maharaja, Princess Farah as they navigate the palace, battle sword-wielding enemies, maneuver trap-filled rooms and ultimately confront the evil Vizier, who controls the Sands of Time.”
“Players continue to progress as they combat enemies and master the art of parkour. Yuri Lowenthal returns, reprising his role as the Prince’s original voice and motion capture actor and players will be introduced to actress Supinder Wraich, who now plays the role of Farah.” – Ubisoft Press release regarding the game.

The game is developed by Ubisoft India Studios, which includes 2 studios based in Pune and Mumbai. This is the first game completely developed by Ubisoft India, which will hopefully lead to even more, bigger titles developed in the country. Developing blockbuster AAA games in India has been a problem for far too long, and with Ubisoft India and Nodding Heads Games (Raji: An Ancient Epic) taking the first big steps is well appreciated.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will be available on 21st January 2021 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Uplay, Uplay+, and Epic Games for $40. The remake will also include the original 1989 (’92 Mac Version) game.
