AMD’s 7nm Radeon VII graphics card has been really hard to find at decent prices ever since it launched in Feb. Amazon and eBay have been selling them for outrageous prices, and a while back Newegg also joined them. The card was selling for around 800-900US$. However, AMD or should I say team red’s fans seem to have caught a break, with Newegg selling the Radeon VII for a discounted price of $679, along an AMD gift card worth $150 free that allows you to redeem the Radeon triple bundle, namely Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2 and Ubisoft’s latest Tom Clancy title, The Division 2.
NVIDIA DLSS Shines in Shadow of the Tomb Raider With RTX ON
The Radeon VII is roughly on par with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 2080 and launched at the same retail price as the latter. However, it lacks Turing’s RT and Tensor cores, as well as the enhanced Turing shaders and runs hotter and louder than its RTX competitor.
AMD bundled the above-mentioned AAA titles with the Radeon VII to make up for that deficiency, but NVIDIA was quick to respond with the Triple Threat RTX bundle comprising of EA’s Anthem and Battlefield V and 4A’s post-apocalyptic survival shooter, Metro Exodus. All three games support raytracing and DLSS, and with both of them enabled, the performance is quite acceptable.
Regardless with the GeForce RTX 2080 retailing at $699+ at most stores, this is a great price for AMD’s flagship GPU with some top-notch games bundled along with it. To be fair, I personally believe that AMD’s bundle is much better than NVIDIA’s. DmC5, RE2 and The Division 2 all received positive reviews while the only title worth playing from the RTX bundle is Metro Exodus.
