Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ Goes Official With A Similar Design, Improved Internals and Cameras

    After months of wait and rumours, Samsung finally took the wraps off its latest flagship series, the Galaxy S22, including the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra, at its Galaxy Unpacked event.

    The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ come with a familiar design with a contour-cut camera module, flat edges carved out of Armor Aluminium and a hard glass rear panel with a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus on top of it.

    Upfront, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ feature a 6.1-inch and 6.4-inch FHD+ Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz, HDR10+ certification. Further, the display comes with Eye Comfort Shield and Vision Booster. Diving deep into the specifics, the 6.1-inch AMOLED panel on the Galaxy S22 has a brightness of 1300-nits and a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1. Meanwhile, the AMOLED panel on the Galaxy S22+ offers 1,750 nits of peak brightness and a 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

    The Galaxy S22 and S22+ are powered by a 4nm processor, meaning it comes with either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Exynos 2200 SoC, depending on the market. For storage, both smartphones come with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of internal memory. Both smartphones run Android 12 based OneUI 4.1 out of the box. Samsung has promised 4 generations of Android updates for the Galaxy S22 series.

    Samsung recently confirmed that the company is launching the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powered Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ in India.

    The Galaxy S22 boasts a 3,700mAH battery supporting 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22+ gets a tad bigger 4,500mAh battery with support for up to 45W wired charging15W wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare.

    Coming to optics, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ come with a triple-lens camera setup led by a 50MP primary sensor with OIS and Dual Pixel AF coupled with an f/1.8 wide lens. Then there’s a 12MP sensor with an f/2.2 ultra-wide lens with a 120-degree FoV. The third camera is a 10MP f/2.2 telephoto shooter with 3x lossless zoom, 30x space zoom capability and OIS. Lastly, a 10MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture lens and Dual Pixel AF is housed inside the punch hole cutout on the front.

    Samsung’s latest Galaxy S22 starts at $799 (~Rs 60,000), while the Galaxy S22 will be retailing for a starting price of $999 (~Rs 75,000). The Galaxy S22 and S22+ will be available in the US starting February 25th. Both smartphones will be available in four colour options – Phantom White, Phantom Black, Green, and Pink Gold.

    The Galaxy S22 series is already up for pre-booking in India. Interested customers can pay a refundable amount of Rs 1,999 to pre-book the Galaxy S22 device of their choice. Customers pre-booking the Galaxy S22 smartphones will be getting a free Galaxy SmartTag worth Rs 2,699.

    1. I have been using Samsung Galaxy S21 for years and i never had any problem with it. I just love the phone’s design, camera quality, screen resolution, touch sensitivity and other features. It’s worth the money you pay for this mobile device in my opinion. May be i will upgrade it to S22+
