Fossil’s next-gen smartwatches are already en route, with the official product page showing the message “Gen 6 is coming.” However, WinFuture has spilt some beans on Fossil’s upcoming Gen 6 smartwatches. So let’s have a look at what Fossil has in store for us.
According to the report, the Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches would be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon Wear 4100+ platform. The Snapdragon 4100+ is a 12nm chipset, 85% faster than the last generation’s Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform. The Snapdragon 4100+ brings support for 4G LTE (Cat. 4) and GPS. It comes with an improved AON Co-processor, which supports up to 64K colours, continuous heart rate monitoring, faster tilt-to-wake responsiveness, and haptics. The Bluetooth 5.0 support improves the battery life by 25%. The Gen 6 will have 8GB of internal memory. It will run on Google’s new WearOS.
The Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches are expected to come out in two sizes, 42 mm and 44 mm. Both the sizes would be featuring a 1.28-inch OLED display with a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels. The new OLED panel on the Gen 6 watches are expected to be brighter than its predecessors, with support for Always-On functionality.
The Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches will be offering a battery life of up to 24 hours and an improved power-saving mode which should make your watch last for days. As for the charging speed, the Gen 6 will come with fast charging support, juicing up the battery in an hour and 0-80% within 30 minutes.
The new Fossil smartwatches will be coming with a wide range of sensors, including a step counter, heart rate monitor with SpO2 sensor and GPS. It will also offer activity tracking and route tracking for accurate fitness data.
The Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches are expected to launch on September 7. These watches will be available in atleast three for men and women. The Gen 6 smartwatches are rumoured to start at €299 in Germany.
