You can sign up for beta access right now, with the beta starting in August. The service itself will go live by the fall of this year.
DC Universe will launch with plenty of original shows like Titans, Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing, Young Justice: Outsiders & Harley Quinn. You can find more details about that here. Alongside that, you’ll also get access to DC’s older catalog of films and TV shows. Whether this will include shows currently airing like Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow or Gotham is yet to be seen.
Developing new ways for consumers to access some of our most popular and iconic brands and franchises as well as exclusive new content whenever they want, on the devices they choose, is one of our studio’s top priorities. The DC UNIVERSE platform gives fans a place to tailor their experience and build a direct relationship with DC in a way they never could before.
– Craig Hunegs, President of Warner Bros. Digital Networks
You’ll also be able to read DC comics, as well as buy official merchandise! While the service may not be available in all regions, worldwide rollout should follow soon after launch.
This is a pretty interesting development considering Disney, and by extension, DC’s rival Marvel is also putting out a new streaming service due to launch sometime next year. But for now, it seems like DC has seemingly gained their fans’ attention. With a service as captivating as this, it’s sure to turn some heads.
