Qualcomm is readying the successor to the SD 888 chipset, slated to be called the Snapdragon 898, and will feature a Cortex-X2 clock of 3.09Ghz.

    What is Cortex-X2?

The Cortex-X2 is the second generation ARM core dedicated to high performance. These cores perform significantly better while operating on the same node structure and frequency.

The X2’s peak performance has been optimised, and Machine Learning (ML) performance has been doubled. ARM claims that X2’s performance is 40% higher when compared to a 15W Intel i5-1135G7 from 2020.

The Snapdragon 898: What we know so far

The Cortex-X2 will be featured singularly alongside three Cortex-A710 and four Cortex-A510. While the X2 will boost performance by 16% over X1, the A710 is likely to improve efficiency by almost 30%.
