A couple of months ago, AMD announced its Zen 2 Ryzen 4000 mobile processor series at CES 2020. As of now, Intel dominates the market of mobile processors. AMD with this new series of processors is making an attempt to challenge Intel for its dominance in this market.

While the AMD Ryzen 3000 processor series was a huge success for the company, it appears that AMD isn’t done yet.

The Ryzen 4000 series combines its current Zen 2 architecture with the classic Vega graphic cores. The processor series will have different architectures for mobile and desktop. The Ryzen 4000 mobile processor series will be based on the current generation of Zen 2 architecture. However, the desktop processor series will be coming with the new generation of upcoming Zen 3 architecture.

Ryzen 9 4900H Specifications and Processor Series:

AMD claims to have made the best mobile processor there is in the market with the Ryzen 9 4900H. The Ryzen 9 4900H pulls out all the stops for enthusiast gamers demanding even more performance, with a 4.4GHz boost clock, a 3.3GHz base clock, 8 cores, and 16 threads, 45W TDP, and 7nm power efficiency all coming together to make the world’s best gaming notebooks thinner, lighter, and more powerful. Please find more information on this product on the AMD blog, here.

The tech giant compared the Ryzen 4000 series with Intel 10th generation processors. Several benchmark test reveals that AMD has an upper hand for now.

Mobile applications were the primary motivation for the creation of the Ryzen 4000 mobile processor series. The designers created the new series by keeping power and efficiency as prime factors. The Ryzen 4000 series code name Renoir comes in 2 series variants. The first series is the H series and the second one is the U series. They have a classical monolith design with up to 8 cores and 16 threads in their full range series. They are the first 7nm x86 processors for mobile devices.

Moreover, AMD claims that they have increased the power efficiency by 75% with the AMD Infinity Fiber. This is due to the dynamic power optimizations and tuning of bandwidth.

However, the Renoir processors have not been on sale officially. AMD plans to allow their partners to place pre-orders for laptops with a new series of processors like the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7. It has a 14 inch full HD display along with Ryzen 4000 series processor. The new Asus Zephyrus G14, Asus A14, and A15 come with Ryzen 4000 mobile processor series too.

The U series mobile processors come with all new 15W CPUs. It includes Ryzen 7 4800U with 8 cores and 16 threads. On the other hand, Ryzen 7 4700U comes with 8 cores and 8 threads. These processors can be pitted against processors like Intel Core i71065G7, Core i7 10710U, and Core i7 10510U.

Both the Ryzen series outperforms every single Intel processor by a very less margin in terms of single-thread performance. However, Ryzen 7 provides 85% better performance in terms of multi-thread testing. All the benchmark tests were performed on the Cinebench mark R20 multi-thread test.

Gamers all around the world are awaiting the official sales of the Renoir mobile processor series. With these new sets of processors, one can easily say that Intel has a very strong competition now even in the mobile processor market.
