Halo Infinite’s community director has assured fans that 343 Industries’ monthly update schedule, called ‘Inside Infinite’, is on track ahead of the Xbox game’s fall 2021 launch. The next update will drop sometime next week, which will give more insight into the sandbox team’s vision for the game.

The new Halo game was initially meant to be an Xbox Series X|S launch title but was pushed back after negative reception to its gameplay reveal. Back during July’s Xbox Games Showcase, we learned that Halo Infinite was taking a more open-world approach with its campaign, set on a large, fully-explorable Halo ring.

While the gameplay demo showed promising gameplay true to the original Halo’s style, its visual fidelity failed to deliver on the promise of ‘the World’s most powerful console’. Up until then, Microsoft was heavily touting the Xbox Series X’s frankly powerful specs, but the lack of visually stunning (or even truly next-gen) games told a different story. This, coupled with the fact that Halo Infinite is a cross-gen game targeting 60 FPS on even the older Xbox One console, meant that it couldn’t compete with Sony’s juggernaut PS4/PS5 exclusives in the graphics department.

The game has since been delayed and in a previous ‘Inside Infinite’ update, a fall 2021 release date was announced. Halo’s community director, Brian Jarrard, recently addressed a concerned fan’s question about the lack of news since then on Reddit (as first spotted by Wccftech), stating:

“That said, we’re committed to at least monthly high level updates and the next “Inside Infinite” is coming out this week! This month we’re talking with members of the sandbox team to share some insights into their vision for Halo Infinite and the work they’re doing. To manage expectations, this won’t have world premier big screenshots or huge things like a date announce, but our goal is to offer our community more context and insights into our team and the game we’re making while we’re all awaiting the larger beats and full marketing machine later this year.”

Halo Infinite will launch on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X sometime in the last quarter of 2021.
