Guerrilla Games finally showed us the first look at the long-awaited Horizon: Forbidden West, the sequel to 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn. The game was revealed with a trailer that highlighted the new areas of the open world:

Horizon: Zero Dawn was a critically acclaimed PS4 exclusive that successfully showed off the console’s power for an open world setting. Sure, games like God of War and Last of Us Part 2 pushed that even further, but it’s important to note that those are more linear in nature.

Do remember that before this, we still have the first game’s impending PC release on our hands. HZD was one of PS4’s most visually impressive titles, and on PC it’s bound to look, and play, infinitely better. We’ve previously gone over just how a PC release will take advantage of the Decima engine, and now you can get a free copy of the game with AMD’s Ryzen CPUs.

Horizon: Forbidden West will launch exclusively for the newly revealed PS5, continuing Aloy’s journey. As seen in the trailer, it’s clear that we’ll get to explore a variety of new environments, with underwater being a major inclusion.

Horizon Forbidden West continues Aloy’s story as she moves west to a far-future America to brave a majestic, but dangerous frontier where she’ll face awe-inspiring machines and mysterious new threats. Coming to PlayStation 5. – From PlayStation Blog.

Horizon Forbidden West will come out on the PS5 at an unannounced date. We expect it to release sometime late 2021 at the earliest.
