Asus Zenfone 8 Flip and Zenfone 8 are due for launch on May 12 but already has gone through set scrutiny when it was heavily leaked last week. We now have fresh information disclosing more on Zenfone 8 Mini’s hardware. Here’s what we know.

Zenfone 8 Mini: What we know so far

While the Zenfone 8 Flip got elaborate leaks last week, but now the vanilla Zenfone 8 which was being touted as the internals on Mini has now surfaced.

We already had indicated that the processing unit will consist of Snapdragon 888 and will be coupled with 8GB of RAM. 6GB and 12GB RAM variants likely to be on the menu too alongside a UFS 3.1 storage system with up to 256GB capacity. Details gathered on the display suggest that the Zenfone 8 Mini will be benefitting from a 5.9″ FHD+ E4 AMOLED panel from Samsung covering which will be Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

Given the positioning of the line-up, we can predict the chassis and frame to be metal and the Zenfone 8 will be sandwiched with a variant of Gorilla Glass at the back as well. A rumour also suggests IP68 certification. Asus will also continue with the 3.5mm headphone jack with Hi-Fi audio and a stereo speaker set-up. OZO audio, a spatial audio technology, will be supported using the 3 mics onboard, stated some reports.

Camera duties will be handled by a dual-camera setup. The primary camera is a 64MP IMX686. Newly leaked information shows that the second camera unit will be a 12MP ultra-wide shooter and not a macro unit. Now, having an ultra-wide wins some instant points when compared to macro for a variety of reasons. The Zenfone 8 Mini will allow 8K video recording, 4K at 120fps and slo-mo video. Interestingly, the ultra-wide could benefit from an AF system thereby increasing its use.

Thanks to the SD 888 we can also see WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0 and apparently an FM Radio receiver! It will run on Zen UI 8 on top of Android 11.
