With no sight of 5G networks in India, smartphone manufacturers have been launching 5G capable smartphones for quite some time now. Whether an entry-level smartphone or a flagship one, 5G has been one of the biggest focuses while marketing smartphones in 2021. Telecom operators have been conducting trials for 5G networks in India for around a year now, but nothing is going on on the commercial end. However, Xiaomi today announced that the company conducted 5G trials in the country with its upcoming Redmi Note 11T in partnership with the Reliance Jio.

In a press release, Xiaomi announced that Redmi joined hands with the Indian telecom operator Jio to conduct 5G trials in the country. According to the company, the upcoming Redmi Note 11T was used during the trials, and it achieved high download speeds during the 5G testing. The Redmi Note 11T will support 7 5G bands in India – n1, n3, n5, n8, n28, n40 and n78 for standalone (SA) operation and n1, n3, n40, n78 in non-standalone mode.

Commenting on the collaboration, Muralikrishnan B, COO, Xiaomi India, says, “At Redmi, we have played an instrumental role in making technology accessible to the masses. We were one of the first companies in India to put a 4G smartphone into the hands of our consumers with the launch of the Redmi Note 4, back in 2017. As the 5G era arrives, we are working relentlessly towards bringing feature-packed smartphones that can enhance the overall user experience.

He further adds, “We are delighted to partner with Reliance Jio for the Redmi Note 11T 5G in our endeavor of democratizing technology by making it easier for customers to get access to 5G smartphones that are future ready. Our latest trial with Reliance Jio is an indication of the development of the 5G ecosystem in India and the encouraging outcome highlights the true potential of the device and brings a high-quality 5G experience closer to reality.”

The Redmi Note 11T is set to launch in India on November 30th. The smartphone is a rebadged Redmi Note 11, unveiled last month in China. The Redmi Note 11T comes with a 6.6-inch 90 Hz IPS LCD, Dimensity 810 chipset, a 50 MP main camera on the back and a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging.
