Vivo unveiled its 120W Super FlashCharge at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2019, and it instantly became a topic for conversation and for a good reason, as the company claims that its new charging tech can fully charge a 4,000 mAh battery in just 13 minutes. This is a HUGE claim and could very well change the way we charge our phones nowadays.
Recently, we saw OnePlus reaching 30W with its Warp Charge, Huawei reaching 40W with its SuperCharge and Oppo reaching 50W with its SuperVOOC charging tech in the Oppo Find X, which by the way is fastest charging phone till date taking just 35 minutes to fully charge. And now, Vivo wants to one-up all these companies by releasing its 120W Super FlashCharge.
Vivo’s product manager also posted a video to Weibo where we got to see this tech in action for the first time. The video showed a phone charging from 10 to 14 percent in the span of just 16 seconds. Vivo’s fastest charging phone is its iQOO gaming phone which came with a 44W fast charger and reached full capacity in just 45 minutes of charging.
But we should note that most of the tech shown during events like MWC is still in the development stage and may take several years before they are actually released. But since Xiaomi too recently demonstrated a similar 100W charging tech that took 17 minutes to fully charge a 4,000 mAh cell, there is actually some hope to see this kind of fast charging in the near future.
