Vinland Saga is Finally Getting an Anime!

    The surprises keep on coming in the anime community as Mokoto Yukimura’s Vinland Saga is now being made into an anime. This announcement is one that almost nobody saw coming, seeing as the manga has been publishing for well over a decade.

    Vinland SagaVinland Saga is a history manga that delves into the lives of the vibrant Viking age, and is set in Europe somewhere during the 11th century. The manga was serialized in Kodansha’s Afternoon, which is a monthly publication, and has been running since 2005. Makoto Yukimura received the Grand Prize in the manga category in the 13th Cultural Affairs Media Arts Festival in 2009 and the general category of the 36th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2012.

    What is bound to be music to the ears of long-time manga fans is the handling of the Vinland Saga anime by Wit Studio. With huge production titles such as “Attack on Titan” and “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress” under their belt, the show is, in the minds of the community, set up to be a treat in terms of audio and visuals. In fact, Makoto Yukimura himself made us plenty aware of his excitement for the series, as he quoted, “I want to enjoy the animated version of this more than anyone on the planet!”.

    With the vast circulation of sequels in the current seasonal landscape, an anime series like Vinland Saga could really become a smash hit, considering the overwhelming success of the manga critically. We’re looking forward to it just as much as the rest of the community!

    In addition to broadcasting on television, Amazon Prime is also going to be involved in the distribution of Vinland Saga, both in Japan as well as overseas, so look forward to it!
