Umbrella Academy is a popular American superhero series based on Dark Horse comics which is available on Netflix. Written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, this superhero series will be back on Netflix with the second season in July. Ellen Page, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Aidan Gallagher, Robert Sheehan and Justin H. Min will return to be a part of this show along with a couple of new actors joining in the succeeding season.

Yusuf Gatewood, Ritu Arya and Marin Ireland are the new faces to be a part of the show. The second season is expected to premiere on July 31st streaming exclusively on Netflix.

The official trailer of The Umbrella Academy has not been released as of yet, Netflix would perhaps release a trailer or a teaser by the end of June. There was an unconventional teaser that Netflix rolled out, which featured the cast of Umbrella Academy doing the fun, iconic dance sequence from the show. The cast members danced to 1980’s Tiffany’s Pop hit “I Think We’re Alone Now” which was shot indoors because of the pandemic.

This quirky superhero show, which is about a group of superhero siblings with superpowers (obviously) has gained popularity globally. These siblings are adopted by a rich billionaire Reginald Hargreeves (“The Monocle”) and he trains them to save the world with their superpowers. Vanya/The White Violin (Ellen Page), Luther/Spaceboy (Tom Hopper), Diego/The Kraken (David Castañeda), Allison/The Rumor (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus/The Séance (Robert Sheehan) and Number Five/The Boy (Aidan Gallagher) are the characters who are called “The Umbrella Academy”

The plot of the sophomore season has not revealed anything significant. The first season was mainly established around the novel. However, the second season is anticipated to steer towards a different portrayal.

The ending of season one was quite interesting – with the siblings time travelling to become their younger selves in order to save the world from the apocalypse. From that point in season one, viewers will have a chance to see the superhero team get another chance at preventing the apocalypse.

Season one had a dramatic and exciting ending with Vanya Hargreeves becoming the White Violin and the whole academy coming together to protect her. It also ended with the revelation of Vanya’s superpowers. In this season, there will be another version of Vanya that will be in focus, it will reveal a different side to her personality and how the character emerges into a full-blown superhero.

There will be a total of  10 episodes this season too, each episode will run for an hour. The first episode is named ”Right Back Where We Started”, this name itself tells the viewers what they could expect to see in the first episode.
