The Witchwood, Hearthstone’s next Expansion pack was just announced by Blizzard entertainment. The set includes 130 new cards, and 50 Packs + 20 Bonus Packs will be included if you pre-purchase Witchwood.
The expansion also adds another single-player experience similar to the Kobolds & Catacombs’ Dungeon Runs, building on one of the game’s best ideas from the Year of the Mammoth. The Witchwood is Warcraft’s take on witches and Worgen (Werewolves).
The single-player mode in Witchwood is called Monster Hunt. You go up against upto 8 bosses and are allowed to use additional cards if you win. One of the core differences is that unlike Dungeon runs, you can use only 4 of the classes specifically designed for this expansion pack.
Another fundamental change is that at least one of the new cards will change in your hand every turn. The below Pumpkin Peasant will switch from 2 attack and 4 health to stats of 4/2.
The Witchwood doesn’t feature a new fancy card type like last year’s expansions. But The Witchwood is taking a lot of the best ideas from those sets and expanding them. Both of those additions were popular with fans, and now Blizzard is giving players more of them.
Blizzard also teased a new Hero Card at the end of The Witchwood’s trailer. These were first introduced in Knights of the Frozen Throne. They replace your Hero Power with a new one and grant additional armor and a few other buffs.
Hearthstone is the leading card game of the gaming industry. The free-to-play game for PC and mobile runs on microtransactions. Witchwood marks the start of the Year of the Raven, a rotation in the game’s standard cycle that will make the older card sets obsolete.
