If you’re in the market for a gaming monitor larger than about 24 inches in size, you should probably consider one with a resolution of 2560x1440p, a.k.a. QHD since a lower resolution will result in a low number of pixels per inch and thus a pixelated display. Choosing between different displays can be confusing though, as the only way to really decide is to look at it in person, which is something I would recommend doing if you have a store with a large variety of monitors near you. For those of you without that option, we have compiled a list of three monitors for different needs.

Best 1440p Gaming Monitor: Acer VG271U

Specifications:

  • Size: 27-inch IPS
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Response rate: 1MS
  • Refresh rate: 144Hz
  • Brightness: 400 nits
  • AMD FreeSync technology
  • Price: Rs. 30,990

The VG271U has a refresh rate of 144 Hz and an impressive response time of 1 ms, as well as support for FreeSync and HDR, all while being an IPS display, i.e. providing great viewing angles and great color reproduction. Not only does it have a great set of features, but it is also priced very reasonably at about 31,000 rupees on Amazon which goes under 30,000 rupees on sales. It lacks adjustability in the stand though, with no tilt, height adjustment or swivel. If that is a dealbreaker though, this can be solved by either purchasing a separate monitor stand or the XV272U which has the exact same display panel but comes with a better stand

Best Monitor for Photo Editing: BenQ PD2700Q

Specifications:

  • Size: 27-inch IPS
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Response rate: 4MS
  • Refresh rate: 60Hz
  • Brightness: 350 nits
  • Price: Rs. 27,000

The PD2700Q by BenQ is a beautiful display that covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut that is hardware calibrated by the company. It is also extremely affordable, coming in at only 27,000 rupees on Amazon. It features a bunch of extra gimmicky features but in my opinion, those aren’t very useful, and just the gorgeous display is enough to sell it. All in all, it is a great buy for aspiring photographers and editors on a budget.

Best Ultrawide Gaming Monitor: LG 34UC98-W

LG Monitors 34UC98-W 1

Specifications:

  • Size: 34-inch IPS
  • Aspect Ratio: 21:9 (3440×1440)
  • Response rate: 5MS
  • Refresh rate: 60Hz
  • Brightness: 300 nits
  • Price: Rs. 95,000

The 34UC98-W by LG is an expensive monitor, but in my opinion, it is worth every penny with the number of features it has, and how few the cons are. Not only is it calibrated to have accurate color reproduction out of the box, but it also has FreeSync for gamers. The curvature (1900R) on the screen is great for immersive gameplay and so you don’t have to strain your neck or eyes while looking at the humongous screen. It doesn’t have the best contrast or input lag though, but I feel like those aren’t features that matter to the person looking to buy such a product, and am thus willing to overlook them.
