Steam Summer Sale Adds Permanent Steam Points as New Reward System

The annual steam summer sale is here, and this time it brings with it some nice changes to the overall experience instead of just raining game discounts. We all know by now how Valve keeps finding new reward systems for every steam summer sale, but this year is a little different. Enter Steam Points – a new reward system with which you can customize the look of your Steam profile and more.

As per the Steam’s page, the points shop is here to stay all year round. You get steam points for buying games, and getting awards on content uploaded based on Steam’s community features. If you refund a game, all the points earned from that purchase will be taken away too. As part of the steam summer sale though, you’ll also get a $5 discount on any purchase made over $30 (INR 120 for purchase over INR 700 in India). You’ll gain 100 steam points for every $1 (or INR 100) spent on games, DLC, soundtrack, hardware, or in-game items.

As for game sales, expect similar discounts from last year’s sales as there doesn’t seem to be too many historical lows this time around. Check out r/steam discussion and look for unique deals that users spot there.
