Star Trek: Strange New Worlds comes after CBS All Access brought back the franchise to TV with Discovery in 2017 and then Picard this year.

However, there definitely was a hint of the new series in Discovery. That series saw Captain Pike and Spock join the cast only to leave the Discovery and return to the Enterprise.

“This is a dream come true, literally,” Goldsman said in a statement. “I have imagined myself on the bridge of the Enterprise since the early 1970s. I’m honored to be a part of this continuing journey along with Alex, [executive producer] Henry [Alonso Myers] and the fine folks at CBS.”

The never-ending slate of shows is a probably a way for CBS All Access to grow. Star Trek is one of the biggest attractions for CBS. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will reportedly be followed by other Star Trek-themed shows, a lot of which are already in development.

However, the company is yet to confirm when Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will release on the platform. But considering how productions across the world have shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is safe to assume that it will be quite some time before we get to see it on air.
