Sonic Mania Plus will land on all major consoles (Xbox One, Playstation 4 and the Nintendo Switch) this summer. Sega announced this during its Sonic the Hedgehog panel today. The Sonic Mania Plus is an updated version of last year’s Sonic Mania.
It will come out with a new Encore Mode, which allows the player to explore each of the game’s acts in new ways. Sega also said that it will come with some visual changes too. This version of the game will also feature two new PCs, Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel.
Mighty and Ray are old classic characters, appearing first in SegaSonic the Hedgehog, an arcade game based on Sonic released in 1993. Apart from all this, upto four players will be able to take part in competition mode in Sonic Mania Plus.
Sonic Mania Plus will cost $30
It will also get a physical release with a deluxe packaging: a holographic slip cover and a reversible sleeve designed to mimic Sega Genesis/Mega Drive box. A 32-page art book will also be included with the physical copy (Yippee!). So lots of stuff for you if you are an old fan.
Physical copies will cost $30, and the new content will also be provided to digital owners via an update (with pricing TBD).
