AMD will be refreshing its High End Desktop platform with a new line of Ryzen processors launching this year.

AMD, using a public slide, has confirmed that its second generation Ryzen Threadripper 2900X, 2920X and 2950X are now sampling.

The Threadripper 2000 series will be using 12nm fabrication process allowing better power efficiency and increased overall frequency in single and multi-threaded applications.

Another document was leaked out earlier that showed the existence of three multi-core processors. The new Generation 2 Threadrippers are likely to feature same core count as their predecessors. That means we can expect an 8-core Threadripper 2900X, a 12-core Threadripper 2920X and a 16-core Threadripper 2950X. AMD will be applying Zen+ tweaks based on the new Ryzen 2nd Generation Pinnacle Ridge dies to these processors including memory latency optimizations and higher clock speeds.

The second generation AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2000 is already being sampled and should now be available to all the partners. This translates to a possible Q3 launch, probably at the AMD Computex press conference.
