MWC has officially started and it feels like it because Samsung has just dropped the brand new Galaxy S9 and the S9 Plus. The iterative upgrade over the S8 series is pretty cool and here’s some reasons why.

The Processor

The Samsung Galaxy S9 duo are the first phones in the world to be available with the Snapdragon 845 SoC. But in most markets, it’ll be available with the Exynos 9810. These are the latest and fastest mobile processors in the world right now and it makes for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus to be the fastest phones available right now.

The Screen

It retains the Super AMOLED panels with a resolution of 2960x1440p and an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The sizes are also the same with the smaller S9 weighing in at 5.8 inches and the larger counterpart at 6.2 inches. The curved displays are beautiful and are the best displays from Samsung yet. Like always.

The Headphone JackAll profiles of the Galaxy S9

What? No! How?! A flagship in 2018 with a headphone jack is literally the best thing ever! This is pretty awesome of Samsung considering the fact that even Google released the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL without a headphone jack to push the Pixel Buds. This is a great move by Samsung to show that they do care about their consumers.

The Fingerprint SensorFingerprint Scanner location on the Galaxy S9 Plus

This was also a great move by Samsung where they showed that they take consumer feedback really seriously. The fingerprint sensor is now moved below the camera as opposed to beside the camera on the Galaxy S8. It is also slightly raised so you know exactly where it is located so you don’t smudge the lens as often.

The New Camera(s)Cameras on the devices

The S9 and S9 Plus have better cameras this time around. The S9 Plus has two of them in fact and the primary camera on both devices is a 12 MP shooter with variable aperture. This is extremely impressive as a smartphone is quite literally the smallest device where you can put in a sensor with variable aperture. It shifts from f/1.5 to f/2.4 and there are no modes in between. It is binary but that still is very impressive.

The front facing cameras are capable of a new mode of taking selfies that Samsung is calling AR Emoji (which, funnily enough sounds like Animoji if you pronounce it aremoji. Illuminati confirmed?). This will make an avatar of yours, somewhat like a bitmoji but one that you don’t have to configure and you can send pictures or GIFs of this avatar of yours to anyone. The shooters on the S9 duo are by far the most impressive features and I expect to get a lot out of them when we review them.

This was the S9 duo and MWC has officially started.DO you know what that means? That means TechQuila has more news, reviews and everything so stay tuned!
