Realme recently teased the launch of its upcoming budget centric smartphone, the Realme 5i, on Flipkart. It also revealed the launch date to be January 9. This is going to be the first smartphone launch for the Chinese phone maker for the year 2020. So let us take a look at the features that the Realme 5i offers, its pricing, and how it compares with its predecessor and other competitors.
Realme 5i Specs:
The Realme 5i packs in a massive 5000mAh battery which can make it last for more than 1.5 to 2 days for an average user.
The device features a bezel-less 6.52 inch HD (720x1600p) display with a dew-drop notch. The phone is going to be powered by last year’s octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, with an Adreno 610 GPU which promises decent performance.
As far as the cameras are concerned, the rear of Realme 5i houses a quad-camera setup including a 12-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture; a second 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.25 aperture; a third 2-megapixel camera and a fourth 2-megapixel camera. It will sport an 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies, with an f/2.0 aperture.
For connectivity, the company has included a USB Type-C port with fast charging capability, Dual 4G SIM operability, and other basic sensors including a responsive fingerprint sensor.
Software-wise, it will run ColorOS 6.0.1 based on Android Pie.
Realme 5i Availability and Expected Pricing:
The Realme 5i is going to be a Flipkart exclusive product. It will be available for purchase shortly after the launch and will sell in two colour options, Green and Blue. The company has decided to offer the device in two configurations, a base 3GB+32GB model and a 4GB+64GB model.
This smartphone is expected to be launched with a price tag of Rs. 8,999 for the base 3GB+32GB variant and Rs. 10,999 for the upper 4GB+64GB variant.
Conclusion:
The upcoming Realme 5i has quite a strong spec-sheet for the price and will easily out-perform not only its predecessor, Realme 3i which used a Helio P60 SoC, but most of its competitors in the segment.
The company going with the a Qualcomm chip is a very positive move from the previous Mediatek Helio P60 chip which powered the Realme 3i. This gives the Realme 5i a competitive edge over many other phones in this price bracket, especially in terms of performance and value for money.
