Qualcomm just launched out of the blue its first-ever Snapdragon branded smartphone in collaboration with Asus. The smartphone is dubbed as Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders, a flagship phone specifically meant for the company’s loyalty programme members called the Snapdragon Insiders that was launched in March. The Insider community is 1.6 million strong and comprises fans and enthusiasts who take part in online forums and are the first to receive news from Qualcomm.

Smartphone For Snapdragon Insiders Specs

The phone shares most of its specs and design cues with the Asus Rog Phone 5. Under the hood, it is powered by Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of internal UFS 3.1 storage. The company said in a briefing that the phone opted for the Snapdragon 888 as Asus started its development last year — and the new Snapdragon 888+ SoC was announced just late last month. The device features a 6.78-inch FHD+ Samsung AMOLED panel with up to 144Hz refresh rate. The display is HDR10 and HDR10+ certified with promised Delta-E colour error levels less than 1, and up to 1200 nits of peak brightness. For protection, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus covers the display.

For optics, the Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders sports a triple rear camera array housing a 64MP Sony IMX686, f/1.8 primary sensor. The camera setup includes a 12MP Sony IMX363 with an f/2.2 ultrawide sensor and an 8MP 3X telephoto shooter. Both the primary and telephoto cameras are also equipped with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). For selfies, the device houses a 24MP camera shooter in the top bezel. The smartphone also packs dual stereo speakers that are paired with Snapdragon Sound and a smart AMP.

The Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders is equipped with a third-gen Snapdragon X60 5G modem with support for all key 5G sub-6 and mmWave bands. The phone has a fingerprint sensor on the rear, which is a Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2. However, the phone skimps out on the 3.5mm headphone jack. Like a gaming phone, the smartphone Snapdragon fireball logo on the rear glows in white when you receive a notification. The phone packs an average 4,000mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 5.0.
