First World Solar Technology Summit | Key Details

The objective of the event is to showcase and deliberate on ways to bring the spotlight on the state-of-the-art technologies as well as next-generation technologies which will provide impetus to the efforts towards harnessing solar energy more efficiently.

President of the ISA Assembly and Minister R.K. Singh shared the details on August 17, 2020. As per the details, PM Modi will deliver the inaugural speech at the First World Solar Technology Summit, and it will be graced by ministers from member countries from across all ISA countries. Dr M. Stanley Whittingham who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2019 for the revolutionary discovery of lithium-ion batteries will present at the keynote.

A CEO conclave will have CEOs of top global corporations who will discuss low cost, innovative, and affordable solar technologies. They will share their progress and vision on how scientific developments and innovations can commercially be made available for wider consumption. Several senior government functionaries and heads of global corporations are expected to be present during the First World Solar Technology Summit

    Four Sessions

    First World Solar Technology Summit

World Solar Technology Summit will hold four technical sessions that will be available to the participants in different languages, namely English, Spanish, French and Arabic. Leading companies and research organizations from across the globe will present their work and deliberate on the latest trends in solar technologies.

    • Session -1: Vision 2030 & Beyond: About the context of Photovoltaic (PV) technology development and its future.
    • Session -2: Towards a Decarbonised Grid: The most recent advances regarding key components.
    • Session -3: Disruptive Solar Technologies: On-grid applications, whether ground-mounted, floating, or integrated into residential and commercial rooftops.
    • Session -4: Solar Beyond the Power Sector: Innovative applications where PV is used in eco-friendly industrial processes and as fuels to provide universal access to energy.

ISA Journal | First World Solar Technology Summit

The ISA will also be launching the ISA Journal on Solar Energy (I JOSE) that would help authors from across the globe to publish their written articles on solar energy.

The articles in I JOSE will be reviewed by global experts. They will be reaching the Member nations through ISA’s STAR (Solar Technology and Application Resource centres) centres and NFPs (National Focal points).

    Univeral Electricity Access

The event is aimed at driving the necessary growth of solar energy around the world through innovations. A reduced cost of tech, effective information dissemination, and access to innovative solar technologies, culminating in universal access to electricity, will be the focal agenda of the First World Solar Technology Summit. “At this crucial junction, when the world is striving to fight the corona pandemic, collective efforts will help face this challenge and also towards achieving the objective of universal electricity access to all,”‘ Shri Singh said, inviting all stakeholders to participate in the First World Solar Technology Summit.
