Star Trek fans rejoice! Patrick Stewart, known for playing Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: Generations & the feature films following that, is set to return to the USS Enterprise.

In a surprise appearance at the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention, Stewart made the announcement with the following:
I will always be very proud to have been a part of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but when we wrapped that final movie in the spring of 2002, I truly felt my time with Star Trek had run its natural course. It is, therefore, an unexpected but delightful surprise to find myself excited and invigorated to be returning to Jean-Luc Picard and to explore new dimensions within him. Seeking out new life for him, when I thought that life was over.

Last year already saw the birth of a new show in Discovery. However, this announcement sheds light on a new show currently in development. It remains to be seen if it will also make its way to Netflix for international markets, much like how Discovery did. All in all, this seems like a great time to be a Trekkie, seeing as how many projects are being worked upon right now!
