Earlier this month, we got a glimpse of OnePlus’ next flagship, and we expect the OnePlus 9 to debut in March 2021. But someone just purchased an OnePlus 9 before its official launch, and that too for a whopping $3000. But how?

Few days someone posted an advertisement for a prototype unit of OnePlus 9 on eBay, and it’s the same one that we saw earlier this month in some high-res images shared by PhoneArena.

Well, seeing a smartphone getting on sale before its official launch is surprising for sure, but it’s shocking to know that someone purchased a prototype unit for $3000. Maybe Pete got himself a Christmas present. Nevertheless, it makes no sense. He could have waited till March if he really wanted one.

According to the listing, it’s the same unit that got leaked earlier this month, and the owner of this unit himself shared the images with the different publications. The images on the eBay listing also show the smartphone’s identification number, which is being used by smartphone manufacturers to track down the prototype units in case something like this happens.

Well, it’s much better to wait for a few months for the retail unit instead of buying a half-baked smartphone now for $3000.

This time OnePlus will be launching three flagship smartphones including OnePlus 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Lite. The Lite model is expected to be the cheaper of the lot starting at $600.
