OnePlus, today, took covers off its latest flagship smartphone — the OnePlus 8T 5G. Though the phone isn’t that big of an improvement (performance-wise) over the current OnePlus 8 series, the phone does come with the Samsung’s Note 20 like design, and a slew of features.
And yes, we have a dedicated article for all the other products OnePlus announced today. Check it out here!
Last week, the news broke that Carl Pie is no longer with OnePlus, which was rather confirmed today since this was the first keynote that was not delivered by Carl Pie.
On the front, the OnePlus 8T 5G features a flat 6.55-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display. The display is now 120Hz capable, instead of 90Hz from the last generation. It boasts a 2400 x 1080-pixel resolution and 91.9% screen-to-body ratio. Surprisingly, OnePlus flagship with T in their name always turn up with a flat display.
As already revealed by OnePlus, OnePlus 8 has a similar yet different design. It’s got a flat front and a back with rectangular camera setup.
At the heart of OnePlus 8T 5G is the same Snapdragon 865 used in the OnePlus 8 series. This is the first time OnePlus isn’t using the latest Qualcomm chip available. As its name suggests, OnePlus 8T supports 5G network, thanks to X55 Modem inside Snapdragon 856.
It will not-so-vanilla OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11 out-of-the-box. At the back of the smartphone is rectangular camera setup, housing 4 cameras — a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor, a 16MP wide-angle camera with a 123-degree FOV, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP monochrome sensor.
One key upgrade from the last-gen is the addition of 65W Warp Charge to OnePlus 8T 5G. The phone itself has a large 4,500 mAh battery inside, but with Warp Charge 65, you’ll be able to charge OnePlus 8T 5G a full 100% in just under 40 minutes. A quick 15-minute charge will be enough to fill the battery by 58%.
