OnePlus had released their flagship device OnePlus 5 on 27th on June this year producing a phone so well designed that it is difficult to believe the company is just 4 years old. Yet rumors had been going on about their new flagship, the OnePlus 5T. OnePlus has officially announced the unveiling of the OnePlus 5T at their “A NEW VIEW” event to be held in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday, November 16.
For all those wondering why OnePlus 5 came after 3, OnePlus skipped the OnePlus 4 for the number 4 is considered bad luck in Chinese culture.
Much like the 3 and 3T, the 5 and 5T should keep many of the same specs with only a few, but important, changes coming to the phone. OnePlus likes to keep information on their latest devices unknown till their announcements but for the past years leaks have given away more or less most information on the devices. Rumors and leaks give us a pretty good idea of the changes that we can expect in the OnePlus 5T.
OnePlus has announced that the 5T will be available for purchase in North America and Europe on November 21. There will also be a flash sale in India on November 21, with official sales starting on November 28.
Now the pricing of the OnePlus 5T is expected to be pretty much the same as its predecessor the OnePlus 5. With the OnePlus 3 and 3T the company had retained the design of the phone and most of the specs, only changing the processor to a better one and increasing the RAM. But since there is no new processor from Snapdragon since their latest Snapdragon 835, the 5T is most likely to use the same processor. An increase in the battery capacity is very likely and the headphones jack will be provided. OnePlus does not plan on changing to wireless charging since they believe Dash charging to still be superior to all other charging methods. This is expected as their Dash charging is very well known to be faster and reliable than their competition.
Just like the other flagships launched this year, the 5T will feature a dual camera although we cannot say for sure if the company will upgrade the camera from a 16 MP(RGB)+ 20MP(Monochromatic) to a 20MP+20MP pair of lens. Tweets from the Co-founders Pete Lau and Carl Pei show us pictures which are believed to taken on the 5T.
Coming to the design, OnePlus has made some major upgrades in the design featuring a 6-inch 2160 x 1080 resolution display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. This follows the trend of phones in 2017 that have reduced the bezels to almost nothing and stretched out the displays from a 16:9 aspect ratio to an 18:9 aspect ratio. Here is a list of its specifications from a leaked image.
So these are our expectations from the OnePlus 5T. Let us wait till the official launch so we can get out hands on one.
