Yesterday, after the drivers for the RTX cards were released, the 3D Mark benchmarks surfaced online. Today, we’re seeing a leak that contains official benchmarks of the RTX cards in what are being termed as the recommended titles. Keep in mind though, these are still some of the most popular AAA titles and not all are NVIDIA sponsored ones.

Given that these are official benchmarks from NVIDIA, I’d normally take them with a grain of salt, but these figures are exactly to what I was expecting from the RTX cards. On an average, the RTX 2080 Ti is 40-50% faster than the GTX 1080 Ti in most games while the RTX 2080 is after all just a tad bit faster, 10-15% to be exact. I doubt the 3rd party benchmarks are going to be diverge much from these numbers.

NVIDIA ran these games using the max setting at 4K resolution on a test bed leveraging the following components: X299 Rampage VI Apex, Core i9-7900X 3.3 GHz, Corsair 16GB DDR4. And finally here are the benchmarks:

Update: A concerned Redditor came up with a detailed graph showing the performance gains of the RTX cards over the previous generation, along with the FPS/$ gain:

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti Gaming Benchmarks

As you can see, the RTX 2080 is 43% faster than the previous gen GTX 1080, while the RTX 2080 Ti nets higher frames than it’s predecessor by 42%. As for the FPS/$, the figures aren’t too pleasing. The FPS/$ increase stands at -18% and -20% if you upgrade to the RTX cards from their GTX 10 series counterparts (a rather unsatisfying conclusion from NVIDIA’s own benchmarks).

Furthermore, as we’ve already mentioned the RTX 2080 (as per these calculations) is 13% faster than the 1080 Ti on an average while the FPS/$ increase once again lands in the negative at -7.8%.
