Soon after the AMD Radeon RX 5900XT and 5950XT rumors, specifications for the upcoming GeForce RTX 3000 GPUs have surfaced the internet. These GPUs will be based on NVIDIA’s 7nm Ampere architecture. According to MyDrivers, GA 103 and GA 104 are the two new upcoming graphics cards in the Ampere family. Among these graphics cards, GA 103 is the flagship GeForce RTX 3080.

The GA 103 will feature 10/20 GB of GDDR6 VRAM along with 3840 stream processors for performance. On the other hand, the GA 104 is dubbed to be the RTX 3070 and will come with 3072 stream processors and feature 8/16 GB of GDDR6 VRAM.

According to the leaked specifications, the RTX 3080 and 3070 will come with 60 and 48 SMs respectively. The GA 103 will feature a wider 320-bit bus and both the GPUs are expected to come with memory speeds of up to 16 Gbps. The GA 103 and GA 104 will have a memory bandwidth of 640 GB/s and 512 GB/s as opposed to their predecessor RTX 2080’s 448 GB/s.

Furthermore, the new RTX 3000 GPUs are expected to have a performance gain of 50% over the previous flagships. This, paired with twice the efficiency of Ampere chips will result in RTX 3070 outperforming the RTX 2080Ti at a much lower price point. With these performance numbers, we can expect true 4K 60 FPS on mainstream desktop cards.

It would be interesting to see how AMD’s flagship Radeon RX 5900XT, and RX 5950XT compete against these cards. The RX 5900XT is rumored to come with 12GB of GDDR6 VRAM coupled with a 384-bit memory bus and 672 GB/s memory bandwidth. The latest NVIDIA GPUs are expected to launch in late 2020.
