Lenovo may have revealed the naming convention for the new graphics card lineup to be released by NVIDIA later this year. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1180 and GTX 1170, which are reported to be successors to the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 respectively are expected to be launched later this year. There were different naming conventions being used to describe these upcoming graphics cards like NVIDIA GeForce 11 series GPUs, or GeForce 20 series GPUs.
But according to a representative present at Lenovo’s booth at E3 2018, the new cards will come under the name of NVIDIA GeForce 11 series. The representative revealed the name while being interviewed by TechTuber BrainBean who was talking about Lenovo’s new Legion desktop PCs. While going through the specs of the PC, the representative said that the users can expect the NVIDIA GeForce 11 series GPU, up to a GeForce GTX 1180, replacing the GTX 1060 which powers some of the variants of the current generation of Legion desktop PC.
The Lenovo Rep said, “As well as along with up to GTX 1060 at this time but time to market with NVIDIA 11 series up to 1180 down the road. And up to 1060 at this time, of course, with the NVIDIA 11 series time to market later this fall would get those GPUs as well. “
Another interesting thing was that the representative may have also given a rough idea about the timings of the launch of the new line of GPUs. He confirmed that the next generation Legion desktop PCs with the new GeForce 11 Series cards would be hitting the markets around Fall 2018. These PCs would be an upgrade from the current models that feature a GTX 1060. So this obviously means that NVIDIA will be releasing these cards before then, which is in order with all the rumors and leaks we have seen so far.
