A YouTube channel Gamer-Meld in a video leaked an email from an NVIDIA board partner that mentions the next-gen GeForce cards by name, along with their launch dates. The GeForce GTX 1180, 1170, 1160 and an 1180+ have been mentioned in the email.
It’s hard to tell if the email is legit, but two things stand out. Firstly, the email puts the launch dates on 30th August and 30 October. These are Thursday and Tuesday respectively, the most common launch days for NVIDIA. Secondly, there is an event taking place this week that will most likely confirm the validity of this leak. As a matter of fact, as per Videocardz, there are actually two events being hosted by team green, so its definitely a possibility.
The email also includes a 1180+. This can’t be an enthusiast range Titanium card, because it’s way too early for those. Knowing this is a board partner mail, it’s most likely the gaming edition or extreme edition of the GTX 1180.
To recap, the NVIDIA cards along with their launch dates as shared in the email are as follows:
- GeForce GTX 1180: 30th August 2018
- GeForce GTX 1170/1180+: 30th September 2018
- GeForce GTX 1160: 30th October 2018
From what I can tell, regardless of whether this email is a fake or not, the launch dates of the NVIDIA Turing GPUs are fairly close. There has been a lot of excess stock of the GeForce GTX 10 series, but I don’t think those will last that long. If the 1180 is not launched by September, I am quite certain (or at least my sources are), that it will definitely see the light of the day by September ending.
