Remember the X-Ray feature in the color filters of the OnePlus 8 Pro? That is NOT available in the Indian retail unit.

We got early access to the OnePlus 8 Pro, and much like a lot of people in India, we wanted to try to see if we could see through plastic! Unfortunately though, the X-ray filter was absent!

The rest of the color filters are available however, and that’s good news for some people I guess? (Does anyone really use filters directly on their phone camera app, unless it’s an iPhone?)

We did ask OnePlus and confirmed that the X-ray filter would not be available in India, and that is weird. This did not seem like an obtrusive filter, after all, it was only able to see through some objects. And given how cool it looked, this actually gave creators a reason to use the in-built filters in the OnePlus camera app, as opposed to using a third-party to apply filters.

This move by the Chinese tech company is very questionable. Why would OnePlus remove that feature entirely? Rather, why would they do so just for this region? Have they hidden the feature or actually completely disabled it given that the hardware is still present? What does this move actually mean? And given that OnePlus has said they are working on a fix, would they bring it back in a different form? These are questions that the developer community perhaps could answer for us.

Nevertheless, the OnePlus 8 Pro is finally available in India, and you can read our first impressions here before you pull the trigger on owning it. You can get notified when they drop here!
