MSI has upgraded its small factor, enthusiast offering, the Trident X with the latest chips from Intel and NVIDIA. Loaded with Intel’s top-end Core i9-9900K CPU and the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, the Trident is once again going to be one of the beefiest retail systems.

MSI Trident X 2018 Core Specifications:

  • CPU:Intel Core i9 9900k
  • Chipset: Intel Z370 Chipset
  • Storage: 2x M.2 SSD
  • System Memory: DDR4 2666 MHz up to 32GB
  • Graphics: Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti

MSI claims that the new Trident is supposed to be 50% faster than its predecessor. At first sight, it looks more or less identical as well. Both the glass tempered side-panel and the mystic light have been retained.

The graphics card is placed on the left using one of those PCIe attachments, while the CPU, memory and the drives are spaced out for improved thermals. MSI has implemented a proprietary cooling solution known as ‘Silent Storm Cooling’, which splits airflow allowing components to be individually cooled.

Under the hood however, as already mention it’s upgrades galore. As far as the CPU is concerned, the consumers get to choose between the Core i9-9900K and the i7-9700K. On the graphics side, NVIDIA’s top end RTX cards take up the mantle. DDR4 RAM is available with a 32 GB upper limit clocked at 2666 MHz.

Lastly, for pricing and availability, the MSI Trident X will be available in the UK this December for a retail price of £2899. A hefty price tag, but not really unexpected given the premium specs.
