DC is absolutely in the mood to provide fans with some interesting additions and changes and this one might be the most exciting of them all (well, almost). Michael Keaton is in talks to reprise the role of Batman for Warner Bros.’ DC movie The Flash.
Along with Michael Keaton, Ezra Miller will return to reprise the role of Barry Allen, aka the Flash. Additionally, the feature film is going to be directed by filmmaker Andy Muschietti, who directed both of the It movies.
Although it isn’t official yet, since discussions are ongoing, but if it does go through, then Michael Keaton fans would seriously be in for a treat. The actor wouldn’t just return for Flash but for other projects in the DC Universe as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the role that Keaton is supposed to play is similar to Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So, he will play the role of a mentor or guide or as someone who pulls the strings behind the curtains. This could potentially play a role in Batgirl which is in production at the moment.
Michael Keaton had reprised the role of the Batman, the infamous superhero, in 1992’s Batman Returns and 1989’s Batman. Before these roles, he was mostly a comedic actor and thus received a lot of flak for his role as Batman. However, the 1989 movie was a hit among fans and he thus returned again for the 1992 Batman Returns. Notably, Keaton starred in the 2014 film Birdman where he played an actor who once starred in superhero movies. He got nominated for an Oscar for that role.
Andy Muschietti’s The Flash will introduce the audiences to the idea of the multiverse, one of the core concepts of the DC Universe. The multiverse depicts a shifting number of alternate universes that coexists within the larger reality. It was originally created to validate contradictory changes the characters in the universe went through over decades. The multiverse allows several different versions of the same characters to exist at the same time and sometimes interact.
Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which is also currently in production, will be viewed as separate from the Flash. But since the latter is said to feature not just time travel, but also inter-dimensional travel, it might be safe to assume whether crossing from one movie universe to another is on the table.
Flash is supposed to start shooting in London in spring 2021.Show us some support by following our Instagram handle.
