It’s been not much time since Xiaomi introduced Mi 11 Series, but rumours for Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone has already started surfacing online. The Mi 12 is expected to be announced later this year or in early 2022. But a recent report has already provided some insight into the specifications of Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphone.
According to a report by Chinese publication MyDrivers, the Xiaomi Mi 12 will be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship processor dubbed Snapdragon 898. If that’s the case, we can expect the Mi 12 to be one of the first Snapdragon 898 powered smartphones. So, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if we’ll get to see it launch by the end of this year.
The report also suggests that the upcoming Xiaomi flagship will be coming with LPDDR5X RAM. In case you missed it, the recently announced LPDDR5X memory is an upgraded LPDDR5 memory that pushed the maximum data transfer rate from 6,400 Mbps to 8,533 Mbps. Well, LPDDR5X is just double what LPDDR4X offers, and it could result in a substantial performance improvement.
As of now, Snapdragon 888 or Snapdragon 870 supports LPDDR4X RAM. Meanwhile, Snapdragon 898 is expected to introduce support for LPDDR5X. The Snapdragon 898 is expected to be announced later this year and is touted based on the new ARMv9 architecture.
The rumour mill has a lot churning about the Mi 12. According to some rumours, the Mi 12 is expected to bring 200MP cameras, and the Mi 12 Ultra with support for 200W charging is also in the pipeline. Well, it’s just a matter of few months before Xiaomi takes wraps off from the Mi 12 series.
