- Mass Effect 3 is getting a new mode that largely improves upon the final level of the game.
- The mod can be broken down into three fundamental parts that systemically tell one how the level improves over the old.
Improving an already released game with a mod is a difficult task, but it can also be incredibly satisfying for the fans of a game. More often than not, the mod makes changes to the way the game plays in order to improve the experience that the player has. When Super Smash Bros. Brawl received a non official upgrade in the form of Project M, people were ecstatic at the opportunity to play Brawl in a way that resembled its predecessor, Super Smash Bros. Melee. Similarly, a mod to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, saw the inclusion of lightsabers as a replacement for swords. It looks like Mass Effect 3 is getting some reworking done, as modern ‘Araron’ and his team have given a complete overhaul to the game’s final mission.
The mod, popularly dubbed ‘Priority Earth Overhaul’ can be effectively broken down into three stages that display the levels at which the improvement over the original level is shown. The first stage targets the biggest issues, and acts as a foundation for every subsequent stage. The second stage focuses on the Earth hub, expanding it and allowing one to see war assets and allies in a much clearer fashion while also updating the design of the level, allowing for a much greater degree of immersion than before. Last but not least, the third stage focuses on gameplay elements and brand new missions. Players are sure to have a lot more fun with this new mod as some of the improvements include restoration of previously cut SFX pieces that are implemented throughout the mission, new music, dialogue and scenes to shake things up for the player in terms of the narrative, as well as many gameplay improvements, ranging from a general overhaul for AI spawns to particulars like the horde modes.
A full list of features that the mod presents to you can be found at this link, as well as the link to a video that breaks down the improvements right in front of you, so it can be seen how much has been put into making the experience of Mass Effect 3 that much better for the player. The mod itself can be downloaded from here. Mods like this are sure to have a lot of hard work put into them, and its great for the gaming community that people are pooling together to make games that are good on their own look and sound even better than ever before. The community at large could very well benefit from more projects like this in the future, and the bigger the game, the more likely a drastic improvement or shake up in how that game is played.
