NVIDIA DLSS Comes to Marvel’s Avengers and Wolfenstein: Youngblood

Marvel’s Avengers has gotten NVIDIA DLSS support with the latest update, with Wolfenstein Youngblood also adding it for improved performance on GeForce RTX graphics cards.

The latest patch for Marvel Avengers and Wolfenstein: Youngblood also enables DLSS Ultra Performance mode for 8K gaming with the GeForce RTX 3090.

The new update also includes additional optimizations that leverage the improved asynchronous compute capabilities of the GeForce RTX 30 Series. We’ve seen DLSS 2.0 show some fantastic results in boosting game performance, with reconstructed image quality being extremely close to native resolution.

It used to be mostly games with ray tracing support with NVIDIA were getting DLSS. However with Death Stranding and now Marvel’s Avengers getting support for the feature, it’s clear that DLSS may have a brighter future than we previously assumed. Its addition to Fortnite, one of the most popular games in the world, certainly helps with its popularity for adoption in other games.

Nevertheless, it’s great to see a performance-boosting feature come to Avengers, whose performance wasn’t great on PC or consoles, to begin with. In our review of the game on PS4, we said the following regarding its performance – “Nothing speaks ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ than seeing the framerate tank to the low 10s when you’re punching 12 robots in the face, with particle effects flying across the screen.”

Wolfenstein: Youngblood also had a mixed reception, so an added boost in framerate might help a little bit.

As DLSS keeps getting added to more games, it seems AMD will definitely have to include a similar feature on their upcoming RDNA 2 graphics cards.
