Square Enix just announced Life is Strange 2, the next entry in it’s critically acclaimed story driven franchise from Dontnod Entertainment. At Gamescom today, Square Enix and Dontnod made the announcement that the first episode of Life is Strange 2 will release on 27th September, 2018.

The setting of the game is vastly different from it’s predecessor. While Life is Strange was the story of two friends working to prevent the destruction of their town using time travel and at the same time dealing with the quirks of being high school students, the sequel has a completely different skin.

Life is Strange 2 will be a five episode adventure game that will focus on the story of two brothers, 16-year old Sean and 9-year old Daniel Diaz from Seattle. After an event that turns their lives upside down, the two siblings are forced to cross the border into Mexico.

The game brings to light one of the most scrutinized subjects of the US- a shooting gone wrong. However, here the one who fired the shots actually happens to be a cop. Faced with crippling guilt and fear, the two brothers decide to run away from home and tough it out on the road.

This is the kind of story that should be all too familiar to people with brothers, younger or older. Sean will not only have to look after himself but also teach Daniel how to survive out there in the real world on his own.

With a completely new caste and setting, Life is Strange 2 promises an unforgettable emotional ride, full of tearjerkers and awe-inspiring moments.

In case you already didn’t know, Dontnod released a free game Captain Spirit in the Life is Strange Universe. In Captain Spirit, you play as Chris Eriksen, a young boy living with his father. Both are trying to overcome the grief of Emily, Chris’ mother, who died shortly before the events of the game. Chris, like a lot of young kids, has a vivid imagination. And so, he dons the persona of Captain Spirit to pass his time during the holidays. Now, the game follows two parallel storylines, one involving his dad, and the other his superhero adventures.

It’s the kind of story that hits all the right spots and hey, it’s free so go ahead and check it out!
