DC has turned out to be fan-favourite this season, from Fadome to Zack Snyder’s Justice League, DC has managed to keep its fans hooked and wanting for more. While Zack Snyder’s Cut will make its way to viewers somewhere in 2021, Warner Bros. is reportedly working on the future of the iconic team – Justice League: Rebirth.
According to DCEU Mythic, Warner Bros. has started working on Justice League: Rebirth film which is not a part of Snyder Cut and isn’t a sequel of the Justice League franchise. It will be a non-animated, live-action film!
Back in 2016, DC re-released DC Universe: Rebirth Special #1, the comic was loved for its connection to the core and legacy by the fans. It also established the stage for massive event-esque miniseries such as the DC Universe/Watchmen-crossover Doomsday Clock and the upcoming Batman: Three Jokers.
Though, till now, the news is more of speculation but if something like this actually happens it would position JJ Abrams and Christina Hodson as being DC’s version of Kevin Feige where they have a plan for the future of the DC film universe and will execute it.
A lot of rumours surrounding this have previously made rounds saying Warner Bros. would want JJ Abrams to take a shot at Superman, and a Justice League movie is right up his big-budget blockbuster lane, after conquering Star Trek and Star Wars universes with huge success.
The production of Justice League: Rebirth, would allow DC to bring back its other successful characters like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, etc. DC is also looking forward to a soft-reboot of the 2016 Suicide Squad.
According to Conrad, The Flash would cause this reboot to occur, similar to how Flashpoint caused The New 52 in the comics. This would allow for an in-universe reason for slightly different incarnations of characters to come about. As the Rebirth title hints, this will be a resurrection of Justice League and a reboot of sorts, which is again something JJ has experience with. We’re looking forward to this dream project.
