In a new ‘Play at Home‘ initiative, Sony is giving out both Journey and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection to PS4 users. The new initiative by Sony Interactive Entertainment is aimed at fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic by also setting up a fund to support indie developers. As Sony explains it, ‘Play at Home’ is comprised of 2 elements:

Play At Home has two components: first, providing free games to help keep the PlayStation community entertained at home; and finally, establishing a fund to help smaller independent game studios who may be experiencing financial difficulties continue building great experiences for all gamers.

While Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection has been given away before with PS Plus, but Journey’s addition is an interesting one. The once-PS3 exclusive was ported to PC last year and is set to debut on Steam later this summer.

Regarding the new fund set up for indie developers, Sony added:

Independent developers are vital to the heart and soul of the gaming community and we understand the hardships and financial struggles that many smaller gaming studios are facing. With that, SIE has developed a fund to support them during this time. We have earmarked $10 million to support our independent development partners. More information about the fund, including participation criteria, will be made available soon.

Journey, along with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, will be available to PS4 users from today till May 5th. They are also free-to-keep after claiming them from the PlayStation store.
